Let's break this down.
If you're new to oil serums and facial oils, they may seem counterintuitive.
Oil? On my face!?
YES! Nature provides us with luxurious oils from countless seeds, nuts and plants. Oils vary in color, viscosity, aroma, and moisturizing properties, all based on their diverse nutrient profiles.
At Hey There Wellness, every ingredient is carefully selected for sourcing and quality, as well as what it can offer the skin from a nutritional standpoint. There's nothing like feeding your skin a vibrant, velvety, delicious-smelling oil serum at the end of a long day!
Here's how to get the most out of your oil serum!
1. Serum will be the last - or second to last - step in your routine. I recommend this order: cleanse, hydrate/mist, oil serum, moisturizer/lotion. You may not use all of these products every time. For example, in the morning, I simply wipe or splash my face with water (no cleanser in the a.m.), hydrate, and apply oil serum. That's it! In the evening, I double cleanse, hydrate, and apply oil serum. If you're also using a water-based serum, apply it after your hydrate/mist step and before your oil serum step.
2. Apply facial oils and oil serums to damp skin. First of all, this makes the two to four drops of oil spread effortlessly over your entire face. Secondly, applying oils on top of hydrating mists and toners helps lock in that hydration.
3. Adjust number of drops as needed. The only rule for "how many drops" of oil serum to apply is to give your skin what it needs in each season. For instance, I tend to apply three to four drops to my face during the cold months. But in summertime, 'I easily get away with only two drops. Additionally, you might need more serum as a new user. But over time, as sebum production balances and your skin becomes more hydrated, you'll likely need less.
